On December 23, 2023, New York Governor Kathy Hochul vetoed a bill that would have prohibited employers from seeking, requiring, demanding or accepting a "non-compete agreement" from "covered individuals."

In January 2024, Gov. Hochul and members of the New York Legislature likely will continue negotiations over the salary threshold that individuals must earn to be subject to non-competes. Stay tuned!
