Sensing blood in the water after a handful of new tax increases took effect in Massachusetts, Florida governor Rick Scott sent a form letter to one hundred Massachusetts business leaders, asking them to consider a "one way ticket" to the Sunshine State.  Citing Florida's flourishing economy and rental car giant Hertz Global Holdings' recent decision to relocate from New Jersey to Lee County, Scott encouraged recipients of his August 6th letter to call his office to schedule a visit to the Sunshine State.

On August 8th, Boston Globe columnist Michael Levenson noted that the letter writing campaign is becoming somewhat routine for Scott, alluding to similar overtures Scott has made in the past to business executives in other states with Democratic governors.
