WASHINGTON, D.C.—The next window for new FM translator licenses should be announced soon, and chances are, the FCC won't have any shortage of applicants.
The previous window attracted nearly 900 translator relocation applications. Womble Carlyle Telecom attorney John Garziglia tells Communications Daily (subscription required) that he expects "a good amount of activity" this time.
According to Communications Daily, the 2017 FM translator application window is expected to be divided into two parts: the first for class C and D AM broadcasters only and the section for all AM stations, with each licensee getting only one translator.
