Altenburger Ltd legal + tax assisted Bravonext SA, Chiasso ("lastminute.com"), a Swiss company belonging to LM Group (listed on Six Swiss Exchange as lastminute.com NV) and leader in Europe for online travel and leisure arrangements, in a VAT controversy against the Swiss Federal Tax Administration (FTA).
After a VAT inspection launched some years ago, the FTA issued a taxation assessment under which it claimed that Bravonext SA incorrectly applied the VAT on flights intermediation, for an amount of 1.5 million Swiss Francs, with reference to Swiss domestic flights sold through its platform www.lastminute.com.
Dr. iur. Sebastiano Garufi Giuliani together with Niccolò Figundio represented Bravonext SA in this case and demonstrated that Bravonext SA has been compliant with Swiss VAT legislation. The FTA subsequently withdrew its claim and closed the case.
