Los Angeles litigation boutique demonstrates its commitment to client-responsive practice through open communication.
Citing a dearth of opinionated commentary by litigation firms, Shoemaker Luti LLP announced today the launch of a regularly updated online publication titled Perspectives & Outlook. The weekly publication, designed to address directly issues of concern to the Firm’s clientele, is in response to the need for a broader, legally minded, but not legalistic analysis of the business environment. "Lawyers shouldn’t necessarily take whatever case comes through the door," said Anthony Luti, a partner at the Firm. "We want to make it clear upfront that we have opinions and that those opinions will obviously matter in the types of cases we take on and the sorts of clients that we serve."
Focusing on the Firm’s core competencies—labor and employment, intellectual property, entertainment, and business litigation—Perspectives & Outlook highlights new case law, pending and new legislation, and trends that may contribute to changes in the industries served by the Firm’s clients. Recent topics have included Big Tobacco’s recent legal victory in federal court in Northern California, and the U.S. Supreme Court's refusal to intervene in the motion picture industry’s intellectual property war against DVD copying. Planned topics include the U.S. Supreme Court’s pending examination of affirmative action at the University of Michigan, and the current abuses of Section 17200 litigation in Southern California against small businesses. "Part of our job is to stay reasonably current with the broader concerns of our clients," said partner Diep Shoemaker. "Perspectives & Outlook offers a regularly updated summary of where we see things going and what that might mean."
Perspectives & Outlook is updated at least weekly, and can be found on the Firm’s website at http://www.shoelu.com. The Firm also offers free subscriptions to Perspectives & Outlook through its website so that clients can receive the publication via email.
