The Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Act 2014 (Act) was passed by the Queensland Parliament on 9 September 2014. This is the first tranche of new resources laws being rolled out under the Queensland Government's Modernising Queensland's Resources Acts Program.

Coal and minerals seminar - 18 November 2014

Do you have a mineral or coal tenement in Queensland? Are you thinking of applying for one? If the answer is yes, then the Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Act 2014 (Qld) will affect you.

On commencement, the Act will make significant changes to the law in Queensland including to the Mineral Resources Act. The law for mineral and coal tenure holders will change in the following five principal areas, which will be covered at the seminar:

  • public notification of and objections to mining lease applications;
  • and environmental authorities;
  • overlapping coal and petroleum resource authorities;
  • land access and restricted land;
  • dealings, caveats and associated agreements; and
  • tenure applications and miscellaneous requirements.

Petroleum and gas seminar - 19 November 2014

Do you have a petroleum tenement in Queensland? Are you thinking of applying for one? If the answer is yes, then the Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Act 2014 (Qld) will affect you.

On commencement, the Act will make significant changes to the law in Queensland including to the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act and the Petroleum Act. The law for petroleum tenure holders will change in the following four principal areas, which will be covered at the seminar:

  • overlapping coal and petroleum resource authorities;
  • land access and restricted land;
  • dealings, caveats and associated agreements; and
  • tenure applications and miscellaneous requirements.
