Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a UN-sanctioned day aimed at promoting the rights and wellbeing of those with disabilities across the world. Whilst this is a vital day to raise awareness, we believe a long term commitment to supporting those with disabilities is important. That's why we have this week signed up to be a disability confident committed employer. This is the first level in a UK government run programme that was developed by employers and disabled people's representatives to make a rigorous but easily accessible approach to increasing opportunities in the workplace for people with disabilities.
Partner Liz Wallace, leader of our enABLE Network said: "BLM signing up to the disability confident programme is absolutely brilliant news and supports the enABLE Network to deliver against their aims even more quickly. I am passionate that we create the kind of culture where everyone at BLM is comfortable expressing who they are – and that BLM can support everyone fully, whatever their needs."
