Singapore – March 22, 2021 – Cooley advised Coatue Management on leading New Delhi-based financial services startup BharatPe's $108 million Series D financing. Existing investors Ribbit Capital, Insight Partners, Steadview Capital, Beenext, Amplo and Sequoia Capital also participated in the round, which brings BharatPe's valuation to $900 million, up from $425 million last year. Partner Ferish Patel led the Cooley team advising Coatue.
One of the fastest round closures for any startup in India, the round got oversubscribed within the last two weeks of December. As part of the round, BharatPe returned approximately $17 million to its angel investors and employees with stock options. The company plans to further expand its network with the new capital.
Coatue is a global, technology-focused investment manager led by founder and portfolio manager Philippe Laffont. The fund invests in both the public and private markets with a focus on technology, media and telecommunications, as well as the consumer and healthcare sectors.
