The global law firm Jones Day is pleased to announce that five former U.S. Supreme Court clerks from October Term 2018 have chosen to join the Firm as associates in the Firm's Issues & Appeals Practice. Jones Day has recruited 55 U.S. Supreme Court clerks since October Term 2011.

The new arrivals, office locations, the Justices for whom they clerked, and their law schools and prior clerkships are as follows:

  • J. Benjamin (Ben) Aguiñaga (Washington Office) – Clerked for Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr.; graduated from Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Aguiñaga was a Law Clerk to Hon. Edith H. Jones, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (2016-2017); and to Hon. Don R. Willett, Supreme Court of Texas (2015-2016).
  • Sherif Girgis (Washington Office) – Clerked for Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr.; graduated from Yale Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, he was a Law Clerk to Hon. Thomas B. Griffith, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (2016-2017). A Rhodes Scholar, Mr. Girgis is also a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy at Princeton University.
  • Kathryn (Kat) Kimball Mizelle (Washington and Miami offices) – Clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas; graduated from University of Florida Levin College of Law. Prior to her Supreme Court clerkship, she served as a Law Clerk to Hon. Gregory G. Katsas, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (2018); Hon. William H. Pryor Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2013–2014); and Hon. James S. Moody Jr., U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida (2012–2013).
  • Megan Lacy Owen (Washington Office) – Clerked for Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh; graduated from University of Virginia School of Law. Prior to her Supreme Court clerkship, she served as a Law Clerk to Hon. Diarmuid F. O'Scannlain, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit (2013-2014); and to Hon. Sidney A. Fitzwater, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas (2010-2011).
  • Matthew (Matt) Rubenstein (Minneapolis Office) – Clerked for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; graduated from Yale Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, he served as Law Clerk to Hon. David S. Tatel, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (2015–2016); and to Hon. James S. Gwin, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio (2014–2015).
