McLennan Ross mourns the passing of Calgary associate Shannon McGinty. Shannon was called to the Bar in 2008 and joined our firm in 2010. Shannon was a valued member of our litigation group in Calgary. She made a very positive contribution to our firm and was a pleasure to be around. Shannon was an excellent lawyer and a gracious friend and mentor. Despite her cancer diagnosis and treatments, Shannon remained part of the McLennan Ross family and we are very sad that she lost her valiant battle with that terrible disease.

Shannon was also active in the broader legal community, including the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch. In addition to being active in Sections and Council, Shannon served on the editorial board of Legal Matters for four years and made a tremendous contribution to updating and improving that publication.

The public announcement of Shannon's passing can be found by clicking here. A memorial service for Shannon is being held at Heritage Funeral Home, 1708 -16th Avenue NW, Calgary, AB on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 6:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. The firm will make a donation in Shannon's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
