Nuno joins from Ince where he was a Partner specialising in advising on hard commodities transactions, predominantly in the energy, metals and mining sectors with a geographical focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a particular expertise in trade finance, foreign direct investment, cross border M&A and international commodities trading and was previously a senior legal counsel for Africa at global trading house Trafigura, where he had oversight of downstream and investment projects, trade and trade finance in over seven countries. Prior to this, he spent seven years in private practice between Africa and Europe and is qualified in England and Wales, Angola and Portugal.

Michael Swangard, Partner at Clyde & Co, says: "We are delighted to welcome Nuno to the team as he brings with him top class expertise and experience advising clients on hard commodities trading, as well as international experience and an African focus that will fit in well in our practice.  Africa is a major market for trade and commodities and as the UK leaves the EU, the UK will likely look to grow its trade relations with African markets further. With Nuno on board, we will be in an even stronger position to assist clients and make the most of opportunities that arise."

Nuno Frota says: "London has become the go-to market for African trade and finance-related transactions, and I am thrilled to be joining a truly Africa-focused team with a strong reputation in the trade and commodities space. I look forward to developing my practice and contributing to the team's success."

Clyde & Co's Trade & Commodities team is made up of more than 100 dedicated lawyers across the firm's global network, including a substantial UK team, working on the full range of the commodity markets – hard and soft commodities, oil and energy, futures and derivatives, and the newer specialisations such as carbon trading.
