WORCESTER, FRAMINGHAM and BOSTON, MA (September 24, 2019)—Bowditch & Dewey, LLP has been nationally recognized by the American Bar Association (ABA) for its exceptional commitment to helping Worcester's most vulnerable citizens.

Headquartered in Worcester, the firm is the 2019 recipient of the ABA Outstanding Medical-Legal Partnership Pro Bono Advocacy Award. The award celebrates Bowditch's years of pro bono commitment to "meeting the health-harming needs of low-income families in Central Massachusetts, including through the Community Legal Aid Medical-Legal Partnership with UMass Memorial Medical Center," according to the association.

The families served through this partnership often have multiple chronic conditions and a lower quality of life than the general population. "As a result, attorneys who assist our clients are often asked to provide holistic care and preventative interventions. Bowditch attorneys consistently volunteer for these extensive service cases ... with kindness and understanding," said one of the individuals who nominated the firm.

Bowditch Partner AiVi Nguyen, one of eight attorneys involved in the Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) this year, accepted the award during the National Center for Medical Legal Partnership's MLP Summit in suburban Washington, DC.

"This award is indicative of the culture of Bowditch and I'm really proud to be a part of it. The most invisible and disadvantaged people in central Massachusetts don't generally have access to private attorneys. The second there was a bridge to reach them, we jumped onboard," said Ms. Nguyen.

"Worcester has been Bowditch's home for over 100 years, and by uplifting everyone in our community, we all become stronger. I am thrilled with the humanity of our team," said Robert D. (Bob) Cox, Jr., Managing Partner, Bowditch.
