MoFo's Singapore office co-hosted a workshop on preventing North Korea sanctions evasion with the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). Singapore head of litigation Daniel Levison introduced the panel, which included former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counter Threat Finance and Sanctions at the U.S. Department of State, Peter Harrell; former Deputy Director in the Office of Sanctions Policy and Implementation at the U.S. Department of State, John Hughes of CNAS; and MoFo Washington, D.C. of counsel and former OFAC Senior Sanctions Policy Advisor, Michael Dobson.

The panel discussed the current North Korea sanctions framework and examined recent Singapore-linked cases of North Korean sanctions evasion. They also provided guidance on best practices for sanctions compliance, and moderated an interesting discussion with an audience of Singapore-based compliance professionals.
