DLA Piper was honored to participate in a recent historic meeting between the US Federal Circuit and the Japanese IP High Court.

The Joint Judicial Conference on Japan and US Intellectual Property Rights was held October 26 and 27 2011 at the Hotel Okura Tokyo. More than a dozen lawyers from DLA Piper, along with many of our clients, were among the more than 900 IP professionals in attendance. John Allcock, our Global Co-Chair and US Chair of Intellectual Property & Technology (IPT), was selected as the US practitioner to participate in a panel discussion on the topic of patent exhaustion.

At the preliminary event, "Innovation and Commerce – Global Legal Considerations", held on October 25 and attended by 250-plus IP and corporate professionals, DLA Piper's Tokyo-based Senior Counsel Henry Koda moderated an enlightening panel discussion on "Best Practices in Managing an Intellectual Property Portfolio".

The events were part of the international Series sponsored by the US Federal Circuit Bar Association.

During the Tokyo events, several DLA Piper IPT practice group leaders were photographed for the front cover of the November 2011 issue of The Lawyers magazine, which reported on the conference.
