Ballard Spahr Mortgage Banking Group Practice Co-Leaders Richard J. Andreano, Jr., and John D. Socknat will both speak at the Mortgage Bankers Association's Compliance and Risk Management Conference on Sunday, September 27.

Rich will facilitate the discussion "Compliance Conversations Track: RESPA Section 8 (Closed to Media)" from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET. He will be joined in conversation by Director and Regulatory Counsel of the Mortgage Bankers Association Alisha Sears and Of Counsel Brian S. Levy, Esq. The event description: this session features a moderator-facilitated discussion in which attendees ask questions and exchange information to learn how peers are addressing challenges under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) Section 8.

John will be a speaker for "Trending Compliance Issues Track: Innovation in Mortgage Lending – Balancing Affordability, Compliance, and Risk (Closed to Media)" from 2:15-3:15 p.m. ET. He will be joined by moderator Ledro Uriegas, Jr., and fellow speakers James M. Milano, Tobias P. Moon, and Haydn J. Richards, Jr. The event description: as lenders explore innovative financing solutions to address housing affordability, compliance and risk considerations remain critical. This session examines emerging mortgage products, including leasehold mortgages and other alternative financing structures, and the regulatory, fair lending, operational, and GSE requirements organizations should evaluate before bringing these products to market.
