Barnes & Thornburg represented logistics provider OIA Global in the acquisition of Cargo Services Inc. (CSI), an international freight forwarding and customs brokerage firm based in Indianapolis.
OIA Global, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, announced the deal on April 7, 2026, saying the transaction would expand the company's freight forwarding and customs brokerage capabilities in the Midwest. The acquisition gives OIA Global a direct presence in "one of the most connected logistics cities in the United States," supporting its strategy to build its own network in key domestic markets.
"At OIA, service is everything, and what stood out about Cargo Services is that they operate the same way," said Mabel Rodriguez, managing director for the Americas at OIA Global. "You can see it in how long their customers have been with them. Connecting that with OIA's global network is going to create real value for customers on both sides."
Founded in 1992, CSI specializes in ocean and air freight, customs brokerage and warehouse services. OIA Global was established in 1988 and now has 1,100 employees in 60 offices across 30 countries. OIA Global is privately owned by LDI, Ltd., a family office based in Indianapolis that funds and operates high-potential, middle-market companies.
