Moulis Legal is pleased to announce the appointment of ;Mohamed el Roubi ;as Special Counsel.

Mohamed is an accomplished executive and senior lawyer with more than 26 years of international experience across governance, risk and compliance, business resilience, corporate and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and complex issues management. He brings deep expertise developed in highly regulated, multi-jurisdictional environments across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia Pacific and the United States. He will lead Moulis Legal's Middle East & Africa Desk, bringing to the role his deep regional expertise and longstanding relationships across key markets.

Educated in Cairo, Boston and Canberra, including a Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law, Mohamed brings a rare combination of senior in-house and private practice experience. His career includes extensive international private practice and in-house roles in Washington DC, Riyadh, Cairo, Baghdad, Rome, Dubai and Canberra. He has particular strength in the energy and resources sectors, having held senior roles with global organisations including Amec Foster Wheeler and General Electric, and he has been involved in major energy, telecommunications, finance, and technology projects. His experience also includes business crime investigations, including on significant matters under investigation by the US Department of Justice, the UK's Serious Fraud Office, France's Parquet National Financier, Italy's Guardia di Finanza, and the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF).

Mohamed brings strong governance credentials, including as a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. He currently serves as Chair of the Conduct Committee of the Council of the Law Society of the ACT, and a Vice Chair of the Australian Press Council. Mohamed is also a seasoned data protection and privacy officer, with experience in data heavy businesses, including in the AI space, further strengthening Moulis Legal's growing capabilities in this area.

Mohamed is fluent in Arabic, and is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, as an attorney and counsellor at law in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia and is registered as a practitioner of the High Court of Australia.
