Thompson Coburn announced today the addition of Aaron M. DeLong as a partner in its Corporate and Securities Practice Group. His experience includes advising businesses on domestic and cross-border M&A, dispositions, joint ventures, loans, reorganizations, recapitalizations and other general corporate matters, with a focus on the energy, maritime and infrastructure sectors. DeLong will soon join Thompson Coburn's Dallas office.
The addition of DeLong to the practice continues to build upon Thompson Coburn's cross-functional services to its commercial clients nationally, following the addition of real estate partner Steven Smith in August.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Aaron to our corporate team," said David J. Kaufman, Co-Chair of Thompson Coburn's Corporate and Securities Practice Group. "His diverse experience with high-stakes, complex transactions makes him an immediate asset to our national service offerings."
Ranked in the Chambers 2025 USA Guide for Corporate/M&A, DeLong rejoined private practice in 2021 after years of public service. His posts included serving as a Foreign Service Officer of the U.S. Department of State in Cairo, Egypt, and as Deputy City Attorney for the City of New Orleans. He subsequently served as the Research and Policy Director at the Business Council of New Orleans. DeLong began his legal career with the New York office of a large international law firm, handling corporate governance, risk, and compliance matters.
"Joining the team at Thompson Coburn is an exciting next step in my career," said DeLong. "I'm excited to leverage the firm's national platform to partner with clients in the Gulf Coast region and across the country to drive proactive solutions."
DeLong earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law. He holds a bachelor's degree from Duke University.
