Lisa R. Lifshitz, Partner and Chair of our Technology and Privacy & Data Management Groups, will be speaking on the “Effective AI Contract Negotiation and Management – What to Uplevel” panel at the upcoming ABA Science & Technology Section’s 2025 Artificial Intelligence and Robotics National Institute on October 13, 2025, in Santa Clara, CA.
Do contracts need to evolve in order to address concerns around AI? Would detailed terms and conditions in a software-as-a-service contract suffice when generative AI features are added to the licensed tools? Why or why not? Reasonable people may disagree!
This panel will:
- Explain how companies buying or selling services incorporating AI may wish to consider updating their procurement or sales templates to address AI specific concerns
- Discuss critical points that come up in deals where AI tools are involved, including setting expectations for AI performance, acceptable uses of AI applications, IP ownership issues, data and privacy concerns, and more
- Address the sufficiency of standard SaaS terms when AI features are added to the SaaS tools
