Ward and Smith is proud to announce that Wilmington-based labor and employment attorney Will Oden has been named to North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Employment Law Power List for the second consecutive year.
This year, Will was one of just 28 attorneys recognized statewide for leadership and significant contributions to their field and practice of law in North Carolina. Each honoree is featured in a special spotlight in the August 2025 issue of the publication.

Oden is one of three attorneys who successfully led the effort with the North Carolina State Bar in 2023 to establish a specialization program for employment law. He became one of the first six management-side employment lawyers in the state to achieve board-certified specialist status in the field.
He has been certified as a mediator since 2013 and was recently invited to serve on the American Arbitration Association’s Employment Law Arbitration panel.
