Senior International Policy Advisor and former U.S. Ambassador Barbara Leaf was recently featured in a segment on Bloomberg Television's "Balance of Power," where she discussed the latest round of Middle East peace talks.
Leaf explained it remains unclear if talks will lead to an ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, noting that "the fundamentals that have divided the sides for 19 months really haven't altered."
Leaf, who most recently served as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, was also asked about President Trump's decision to resume the provision of defensive weapons to Ukraine.
"This is the second time that we've seen such an abrupt suspension of really critical defense articles," Leaf said. "I think the important thing at this point is that [President Trump] is directing those defense articles to be resumed."
