Effective June 30, 2025, Mrachek Law, a litigation boutique based in West Palm Beach and Stuart, joined Taft—one of the fastest-growing law firms in the nation. This finalizes Taft’s merger with the 18-lawyer trial team from Mrachek, further establishing its presence in the Southeast and position as a national, super middle-market firm.
Earlier this month, Taft announced swift growth in the region welcoming Private Client partners Andrew Krause and John Paul Bratcher in connection with a new office in Naples, Florida.
In a recent interview with the American Lawyer, Taft’s chairman and managing partner Robert J. Hicks said Florida presents an opportunity for the firm to continue to grow and better serve its clients. Hicks noted that Taft, currently ranked No. 79 on the Am Law 100, had been looking to enter Florida in a strategic and focused way for over five years and plans to further scale up the size and resources of its presence in Florida.
“This is another very targeted move for Taft that further strengthens and expands our position among Florida’s most affluent markets—where our clients are doing more business and spending more time each year,” Hicks said in the interview.
“As part of Taft, we’ve worked closely together to ensure a smooth transition for our clients, attorneys, and staff, while enhancing our ability to deliver even greater value in the market. We have received a great response throughout our market about this combination and we’re excited about the opportunities ahead for our growing platform and we are eager to start this next phase,” said Alan B. Rose, Taft Florida Chairman and West Palm Beach Partner-in-Charge.
The Mrachek Law merger follows Taft’s combination with Sherman & Howard, Denver’s oldest and third-largest firm, which was effective on Jan. 1, 2025. As a result of this merger, Taft expanded its footprint to the Mountain West region and added annual revenues of more than $100 million and approximately 125 lawyers to Taft’s nationwide roster. In total, through mergers and strategic lateral hires, Taft has already grown its headcount by more than 200 attorneys though the first half of 2025.
