Leading Irish law firm William Fry LLP is delighted to announce that Myra Garrett S.C., partner in the Firm's Corporate/ M&A department, has been awarded Irish M&A Lawyer of the Year at the IFLR Women in Business Law Awards 2025 in London.

This award recognises Myra's exceptional leadership and enduring influence on the Irish M&A landscape. Her practice spans public and private M&A, IPOs, capital markets, and corporate governance. She has led on some of the most significant and complex transactions in the market, including the sale of Beacon Hospital to Macquarie Asset Management – the largest healthcare transaction in Ireland in 2024 and advising Harvey Performance Company LLC on its acquisition of ATA Group. Myra also advised on the largest global pharma deal of 2023, Amgen's US$28.3 billion acquisition of Horizon Therapeutics. These transactions reflect Myra's ability to navigate high-stakes negotiations with precision and insight. Myra is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in all the international legal directories and is listed by IFLR1000 as a 'Women Leader'. Market sources describe her as "simply outstanding; she is an exceptionally talented lawyer and highly skilled deal broker."

A former Managing Partner of William Fry, she currently serves as Vice Co-Chair of the International Bar Association's Rule of Law Forum and is the immediate past Chair of the IBA's Section on Public and Professional Interest. In these roles, she has championed initiatives promoting the rule of law, developing law firm leadership programmes and assessing the impact of AI on legal practice.

In October 2024, Myra was granted Patents of Precedence by the Supreme Court of Ireland, conferring the title of Senior Counsel – an honour that reflects her outstanding contributions to the legal profession both in Ireland and internationally.

Commenting on the award, Myra Garrett said: "It is a privilege to be recognised among such an inspiring group of women. I have been fortunate to work with wonderful, supportive clients and exceptional colleagues throughout my career and I share this award with them."

Stephen Keogh, Managing Partner at William Fry, added: "This award is well-deserved recognition of Myra's exceptional career to date and the influence she has had on the M&A landscape in Ireland. Her leadership, integrity, and strategic insight have shaped many of the most significant deals in the Irish market year after year. It is a fitting tribute to a true M&A legal expert."
