We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our friend and colleague Jorge Rey, who passed away suddenly on June 20, 2025. Our heartfelt condolences go to Jorge's family during this difficult time.
Jorge was a Risk Advisory Services principal in Kaufman Rossin's Boca Raton office and a cherished member of the firm family for nearly two decades. He founded the Cybersecurity and Compliance service line after joining the firm in 2006, and his vision and leadership shaped those practice areas into what they are today. Jorge applied his extensive technical expertise to help clients navigate information security, data privacy, and other risk management issues. He was an adjunct faculty member in graduate business and healthcare programs, a frequent speaker and author, and he served on the South Florida HIMSS board.

But more than his professional accomplishments, Jorge was known for the remarkable person he was—warm, generous, full of integrity, and always greeting everyone with a big, unforgettable smile. Jorge was more than a colleague—he was a trusted friend, a mentor, and a source of light and positivity.
"Jorge was a trusted partner, a dear friend and a good person," said Ivan Garces, senior advisory principal and chair of Kaufman Rossin's Risk Advisory Services practice. "He led with heart, uplifting those around him, empowering his team and building a culture of trust, respect, and compassion. He was respected and cherished, not only for his technical expertise, but also for the kindness and humility he brought to work."
Jorge is survived by his wife, Alicia, and their two children, Emilie and Justin. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The Florida Guardian Ad Litem and The Theta Foundation. Visit the Monarch Funeral Home website to read his obituary.
"Let us remember Jorge for the joy, wisdom, and kindness he brought into our lives," said Kaufman Rossin CEO Blain Heckaman. "While his presence will be deeply missed across every corner of our firm, his legacy will live on in all of us."
