Joliat provides insight into collective investment trusts (CITs), their differences from mutual funds and offers guidance for ERISA plan fiduciaries in evaluating legal risks and benefits of investing in CITs, which hold more than $4 trillion in assets due to lower fees but less regulatory protection.
Joliat is a shareholder in Reinhart’s Employee Benefits Practice and Taft-Hartley Group. He primarily acts as fund counsel to multiemployer health, retirement, apprenticeship, vacation and other benefit plans. He provides plan trustees advice regarding compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Internal Revenue Code, the Affordable Care Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other federal laws and provides other services to meet the general counsel needs of employee benefit plans and their fiduciaries.
