OVERVIEW
Quadrant Chambers were delighted to support London International Disputes Week once again. Our members had a busy week supporting various events, including the main conference, several seminars, and the gala dinner.
At the beginning of the week, our Head of Chambers, Poonam Melwani KChad the enviable task of interviewing Lord Karan Bilimoria on the evolution of dispute resolution and the future of the legal profession. A discussion covering the interplay of business and law that was both thought provoking and inspiring.
During the course of the week, we were lucky enough to co-host four panel sessions with our colleagues at Trowers & Hamlins, Gowling WLG, Keidan Harrison and Stewarts. These seminars covered:
- The competition for critical resources: recent developments in
the mining sector in Africa - discussing how growing demand is
increasing the propensity for disputes involving governments,
corporations and local communities.
- International rescue – what you can do if global supply
chains break down - discussing the common challenges faced in
global supply chains and how to address them.
- To Catch a Thief: recovering the proceeds of fraud in England
and DIFC/ADGM - discussing the recent case law developments from
the English courts as well as the DIFC and ADGM courts on interim
remedies available to victims of fraud.
- Judicial perspectives, institutional practice, and practitioner realities: evolving standards in international arbitration – a discussion exploring perspectives from the Bench and leading arbitral institutions, with Justice Vikram Nath, Judge, Supreme Court of India, giving the keynote address.
With over 100 events taking place, LIDW25 brought together the dispute resolution community, both locally and internationally, to debate and explore key issues and topics, and drive awareness and best practice globally. Thank you to everyone who participated in our events. We'll see you next year at LISW26!
