Our Energy Transition sector team has once again been recognised among the leading legal advisers in Inspiratia's Q1 2025 rankings. Ranked 5th in Europe and 10th globally by deal count, the team successfully completed eight client instructions in the quarter, further solidifying its reputation in the sector across a range of energy transition technologies and markets.
Over the past quarter, our team advised on major transactions across the energy transition sector, supporting clients on portfolio disposals, strategic acquisitions, and financing arrangements spanning BESS, solar, hydrogen and other technologies.
Highlights include acting for sustainable infrastructure investment fund Pioneer Infrastructure Partners II SCSp on its first investment in Yeager Energy B.V., advising BESS developer and owner Harmony Energy Income Trust plc on the of its proposed takeover.
The firm also acted for Infinis Energy Services Limited in relation to the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of TPS PSC Limited by the solar division of Infinis from Taiyo Power & Storage Limited. The transaction includes project rights for the development, construction and operation of a 42MWp solar photovoltaic project and 46MW battery energy storage system in Swansea, Wales.
Additionally, our Energy Transition lawyers advised the founders of Island Green Power on an agreement to sell their remaining combined 50% stake in the business to Macquarie Asset Management, via its managed funds. This follows the sale of their initial 50% shareholding in April 2022.
This latest listing builds on strong results from 2024, which saw Gowling WLG placing 7th in Europe and 9th Globally by deal count, having completed 29 international client instructions. The firm was also named by Inspiratia as the top UK hydrogen project adviser for the period of 2020-2023.
