Together with her family, Chief Talent Officer Amy Tenney Curren (Washington, DC) has turned history into a family affair with their podcast, “History Ignited.” The series dives into all 119 historical references from Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” Law360 wrote about the Curren family project in “ Attorney Ignites Curiosity With Family-Run History Podcast” after it received the 2025 Webby Awards People’s Voice Award for Best Kids and Family Podcast.
In each three- to nine-minute episode, Amy’s children discuss complex topics ranging from the Cold War to baseball and famous conductors. Amy calls the podcast “a joyful and wonderful” family endeavor that teaches the value of research, responsibility, and collaboration.
Launched in June 2024, Amy and her husband have used the podcast as an opportunity to teach their kids digital literacy and how to use generative AI efficiently and responsibly. Amy explained that even as a longtime fan of Billy Joel, "there were so many names and places and events in the song that I didn't know." GenAI creates the podcast’s logo, early scripts, and episode planning. From there, the family fact-checks the content, refines the script, and records the episode.
As CTO, Amy leads B&D’s talent strategy, including hiring, retention, and integration efforts. She’s particularly interested in leveraging technology to drive efficiency, innovation, and excellence within B&D and the legal industry.
