27 September 2004 - RadcliffesLeBrasseur has been advising the Sofidel Group from Italy in relation to its £70 million investment into Wales. The Group has exchanged contracts for the purchase of an 82 acre site on which a new state of the art 800,000 square foot paper mill will be constructed.
RadcliffesLeBrasseur partner Michael Nathanson who heads the firm’s Italian Group and specialises in Anglo-Italian cross border matters led the team that advised Sofidel and Deepak Manghnani a partner in the firm’s Commercial Property Group advised on all aspects of the land acquisition.
Nathanson commented: "This was a long and complicated transaction and we are pleased that contracts have now been exchanged and the construction work commenced. We are delighted to have been able to assist Sofidel in this substantial inward investment."
The Sofidel Group has paper mills in Italy, France and Poland and is one of the fastest expanding European businesses in the paper sector. The new mill in Wales will produce 60,000 tons of tissue annually for the UK market.
