We understand that the Federal High Court (Lagos Division) yesterday delivered a judgment upholding the constitutionality of the Tax Appeal Tribunal in the case brought before it by the NNPC against Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCO).

We understand that the Federal High Court (Lagos Division) yesterday delivered a judgment upholding the constitutionality of the Tax Appeal Tribunal in the case brought before it by the NNPC against Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCO).

This latest judgment is clearly a departure from the recent decision by another Judge of the same court (Abuja Division) in TSKJ v. FIRS  who declared the TAT unconstitutional and ordered its disbandment.
