On November 21, 2017, Mexico's National Minimum Wage Commission ("CONASAMI" for its acronym in Spanish) approved two new increases to the minimum salary, effective December 1, 2017.  Taken together, both increases raise the minimum wage to $88.36 Mexican pesos per day.

The first increase of $5.00 Mexican pesos per day has been designated an "independent recuperation amount" ("monto independiente de recuperación") to strengthen employees' purchasing power.  The second increase, which will raise wages by 3.9%, represents the rate that is typically approved for annual wage increases, except that it will take effect on December 1, 2017.

Employers should review and adjust their payroll practices to comply with this new increase to the minimum wage.
