On January 3rd, 2020 is the deadline for existing projects, construction works, industries or activities, to file to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources their corresponding corrective environmental instrument.
The environmental corrective instruments allows to: (i) Identify and allow the environmental impact or risks of a project, construction work, industry or activity; and, (ii) formulate the environmental control measures and the bases for its control, verification and environmental monitoring.
Nonfulfillment of this obligation will be sanctioned with a fine of Q. 5,000,000 to Q. 100,000,00; and in case of not complying with this requirement within six months of being fined; the business could be closed until it complies with this requirement.
