Colombia: Compliance

Colombia se sube al estándar global. Con la Circular Externa 1000-0017-2026 del 6 de agosto de 2026, el INVIMA adoptó la estructura del Common Technical Document (CTD) para la presentación de expedientes de registro sanitario y de evaluación farmacológica de medicamentos de síntesis química, biológicos y radiofármacos.

Mediante un decreto expedido por la presidencia de la República, María Rocío Cortés Vargas, abogada especialista en Derecho Público y Ciencias Penales y Criminológicas, fue designada como nueva Superintendente de Industria y Comercio.

Colombia's INVIMA has issued Resolution 2026043704 establishing guidelines for utilizing regulatory decisions from other jurisdictions in the evaluation of medicines. This framework introduces reliance mechanisms that allow the agency to consider foreign regulatory assessments while maintaining its independent decision-making authority and without altering existing Colombian regulatory requirements.

On August 1st 2016 the Superintendency of Corporations issued Resolution 100-002657, which sets forth the companies mandated to adopt a Compliance Program in accordance with the provisions of Law 1778 of 2016.

In Circular Externa Number 002 from November 3, 2015, the Superintendence of Commerce and Industry set up the Registro Nacional de Bases de Datos (RNBD, national database record).
