On 22 October 2020, the European Commission published its
consultation on its AIFMD review. It takes the form of a detailed
questionnaire and seeks views on six key areas:
- functioning of the AIFMD regulatory framework, scope and authorisation requirements;
- investor protection;
- international relations;
- financial stability;
- investing in private companies; and
- sustainability/ESG
with a final miscellaneous section requesting feedback on the
competences and powers of supervisory authorities. The deadline for
responses is 31 January 2021.
