The Ministry of Labour has announced it will conduct on-site inspections at the following workplaces this winter:

  • underground mines to check on diesel emissions and other hazards that could affect air quality (to be conducted in January and February);
  • industrial and construction workplaces to check for slip, trip, and fall hazards (to be conducted in February and March); and
  • health care workplaces to check on workplace violence and harassment (to be conducted in February and March)

These visits, or “blitzes,” involve the inspection of the use and condition of safety equipment, worker health and safety training, as well as any other potential health and safety risks.
