ACCC to monitor the removal of GST on feminine hygiene
products
The Federal Government has directed the ACCC to monitor
and report on the prices, costs and profits relating to the supply
of menstrual products in the feminine hygiene products industry.
The Government has previously agreed with the states and
territories that the Goods and Services Tax (GST)
will be removed from menstrual products from 1 January 2019 (29
November 2018).

More than 425 tonnes of toxic firefighting foam remains
in Queensland
More than 425 tonnes of harmful firefighting foams, toxic
to both the environment and to human health, were discovered at 468
locations in Queensland last year, according to a state government
audit. Most of those locations were places in which bulk fuel or
large amounts of chemicals were stored, because they were high fire
risks (29 November 2018).

Teens urged to vaccinate against meningococcal
The Queensland Government is encouraging more young
Queenslanders to take advantage of the meningococcal ACWY vaccine,
as new data reveal only around 64 per cent of Year 10 students
received the jab through the School Immunisation Program last
school year (27 November 2018).

Reminder: Australian Digital Health Agency "opt-out
period" for My Health Record
As
announced by the Australian Digital Health Agency, every
Australian will be offered a My Health Record unless they choose
not to have one during the opt out period which has been extended
to 31 January 2019. During the opt out period individuals who do
not want a record will be able to opt out by visiting My Health Record.
