As outlined in our previous alerts director identification numbers will shortly be mandatory for ALL directors regardless of when you first became a director of a company.
Anyone who became a director after 5 April 2022 should already have one.
If you were a director before this time you only have until 30 November 2022 to apply. If that's you we recommend you apply immediately.
Under the Corporations Act it is a criminal offence and penalties may apply for failing to obtain a director ID.
How to apply
Applications can be made through the new ABRS website, using your myGovID and must be done personally, not on behalf of someone else. There is no cost to apply.
