Caitlin Sinclaire Blythe was profiled inLaw.com's "How I Made It" series, discussing her work as managing partner of Morrison Foerster's San Francisco office, the impact she would like to make in her role, and advice she has for lawyers who want to rise up the ranks of firm leadership.

"I find that most leadership positions work best when the position finds the person rather than the other way around," Caitlin said. "But certainly strong leaders have traits in common, like empathy, thoughtfulness, and the ability to trust their instincts about the right thing to do in a difficult situation. Even the smallest, simplest matter will benefit, for example, from a lawyer who spends the time to try to understand the people on the case (the team, the client, the other side). Practice these things every day, with everything you do, and the more complicated but rewarding matters and responsibilities will find you."
