The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Lisa Taliadoros has been appointed Partner-in-Charge of its Melbourne Office. Ms. Taliadoros joined Jones Day's Sydney Office in 2010, and in 2018 returned to Melbourne, her home town, to assist in establishing Jones Day's fourth Australian office. She was appointed as Australian Chair of the Jones Day Global Diversity, Inclusion & Advancement Committee in 2015.

Ms. Taliadoros has led the Intellectual Property Practice in Australia since 2018. The practice was recently ranked as a leader in the Chambers and Partners 2022 Asia-Pacific Guide.

Ms. Taliadoros' practice focuses on global intellectual property disputes, including in relation to patents, trademarks, copyright, and consumer law/passing off. In particular, she acts in the Australian and New Zealand chapters of multijurisdictional patent litigation in relation to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices, including in a number of landmark High Court cases. She also advises clients on intellectual property issues in high-value international corporate transactions across a range of sectors including energy and resources, banking, consumer products, and healthcare.

Ms. Taliadoros is a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Council of Australia and, since 2020, convenor of the patents subcommittee. She is also a member of the Commonwealth Government's Patents Consultation Group.

"Melbourne is a large and diverse economy where clients regularly confront complex legal issues in intellectual property, disputes, competition, tax, and M&A," said Chris Ahern, Partner-in-Charge of the Sydney Office and Japan. "A Melbourne native, Lisa's demonstrated knowledge of the Firm and deep experience working on cross-border IP litigation make her the ideal person to lead Jones Day's office in Melbourne."

Ms. Taliadoros succeeds Tim L'Estrange, who was the first Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Melbourne Office when it opened in 2018. Mr. L'Estrange will continue as a partner in the Firm's Global Disputes Practice, advising clients on strategic litigation and corporate governance issues, as well as complex disputes and regulatory challenges.

Ms. Taliadoros has a Bachelor of Science from Monash University, a Graduate Diploma (Science) from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. Prior to commencing her legal career, she was a scientist at two of Australia's leading research organizations, the CSIRO and the Centenary Institute of Cell Biology & Cancer Medicine, including in the fields of vaccine development and the study of mechanisms of autoimmune disease.
