John is a leading trial lawyer who represents public and private companies in high-stakes commercial litigation and disputes, product liability cases, and shareholder and derivative class actions. Widely regarded as the go-to counsel for life sciences innovators, in the Northeast and nationally, he serves as a trusted advisor, often handling sensitive matters involving scientific, medical, and regulatory issues.

Based in Boston, John brings nearly 30 years of experience to the firm's national litigation practice. Prior to joining Mintz, John founded his former firm's Boston office. He also led a large, international law firm's global life sciences practice and co-chaired its patent litigation practice.

John has litigated cases in federal and state courts and in national and international arbitration forums. He has extensive experience representing clients in disputes involving mergers and acquisitions and a broad spectrum of business arrangements. In addition, he often coordinates both the national and international defense of multijurisdictional product liability cases, defends life science companies in shareholder and derivative class actions, and represents pharmaceutical and food companies facing allegations brought by consumers, state attorneys general, insurance companies, and other payors.

Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and global insights, John regularly helps clients avoid and manage business risks and litigation.
