Lanier Saperstein, a partner in the Jones Day's Financial Markets Practice resident in New York, was recently elected to the Legal Counsel Committee at the China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC).
Founded in 2005, the CGCC has been recognized as the largest and most influential non-profit organization representing Chinese enterprises in the United States. Its membership consists of more than 1,800 Chinese and U.S. companies, 49 of which are ranked on the 2020 Fortune Global 500. CGCC's mission is to create value, generate economic growth, and enhance cooperation between the U.S. and Chinese business communities. CGCC conducts extensive research and provides a broad range of programs, services, and resources to its members and key stakeholders in an effort to foster the mutual understanding, trust, and engagement between China and the United States.
Mr. Saperstein has been recognized by leading legal publications for his work in international banking and for his knowledge of the Chinese financial market. He has experience in an array of matters impacting financial institutions, including BSA/AML, the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, federal securities laws, and advising on LIBOR transition. Mr. Saperstein has written extensively on matters affecting financial institutions, and his writings have been cited in dozens of prominent law journals. He is a member of the NYCBA Compliance Committee and an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School, where he teaches banking-related courses.
