We are honoured to announced that we received three accolades at the prestigious 2020 African Legal Awards, the results of which were announced on 17 September 2020.

We were recognised for:

  • M&A Team of the Year – for our role in advising on Milco SA's acquisition, by way of a scheme arrangement, of the entire issued share capital of Clover Industries Limited. The deal value was ZAR5-billion, which represented a substantial international investment into South Africa. It is believed to be the largest and most significant investment by an Israeli company into South Africa since 1994.
  • IP Team of the Year – for our role in advising Ninety One Limited (formerly Investec Asset Management) on the clearance and protection of its new brand in over 30 jurisdictions, as well as on the appropriate structuring of its trade mark ownership and management of brand equities. We also advised on putting in place complex intra-group trade mark licences in compliance with South African exchange control regulations and applicable transfer pricing rules (collaborating closely with the ENSafrica transfer pricing team).
  • Private Practice Most Promising Newcomer Award – which was awarded to ENSafrica | Kenya Associate, Matthew Arrum. This award sets out to recognise young lawyers who have made a major impact on their businesses.

The African Legal Awards recognise exceptional achievement in Africa's legal community. The awards are hosted by Legal Week and the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa and are judged by an independent panel of senior practitioners in the sector.

The ongoing support and trust of our clients to partner with them on their business journey, often through difficult and challenging conditions, has brought us to where we are today, the African law firm of choice. For this opportunity we are very grateful, and are dedicated to continue serving you for all your legal needs.
