Attorney Salvatore M. DeBunda is the winner of Philadelphia SmartCEO magazine's 2014 Circle of Excellence Award for nonprofit leadership, in recognition of his service as President of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (PTHA), representing racehorse owners and trainers at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pa.

Mr. DeBunda is Co-Managing Partner of Archer P.C. in Philadelphia, where he practice business law and represents a diverse array of corporate, nonprofit and public sector clients. He received the prestigious Circle of Excellence honor during an awards gala attended by more than 300 business leaders and their associates on Nov. 20, 2014, at Vie, one of Philadelphia's premier event venues. In addition to the Nonprofit sector award claimed by Mr. DeBunda, SmartCEO awarded winners in nine other industry sectors: Biotech/Healthcare, Construction, Family Business, Hospitality, International Business, Manufacturing, Minority/Woman Owned, Professional Services and Real Estate.

The awards honor leaders who have successfully guided their organizations to the forefront of their industries. Mr. DeBunda has been a member of the Board of Directors for 19 years and was inducted last year into the Parx Hall of Fame. PTHA works to protect and provide for the Parx Racing Horsemen; to guarantee rights, healthcare and pension for horsemen, benevolence programs and more. Parx Racing and the PTHA have been recognized throughout the horseracing industry as a starting point for stricter medication rules and other important legislative issues.

The PTHA has also created the Horsemen's Purchasing Association and Turning for Home. The Purchasing Association offers quality products and discount prices, including feed, bedding, supplements and tack. Turning for Home is a racehorse retirement program that has safely retired more than 1,000 horses from Parx Racing since 2008, and is considered a model program for the racing industry.
