We asked Phil: What's the most interesting matter on which you've worked, and why?
"We worked with the Citizens Energy Group to acquire from the City of Indianapolis the City's water and wastewater utility systems in the largest municipal acquisition of a utility ever. The total price was over $2 billion. We worked to develop a compelling case in support of Citizens' proposal, negotiated the acquisition contracts, secured IRS rulings to support the financings and then issued bonds for the acquisition prices. The total time period covered was over two years, from initial call to final closing. It has been very impactful to our client, Citizens, and to the City, which used the acquisition proceeds to enhance the City's infrastructure."
