Arnold & Porter Environmental partner Sarah Grey was named to the Denver Business Journal's 2023 "40 Under 40" list. The annual report recognizes 40 of Denver's "outstanding local professionals under age 40 for their business success and community contributions."

Throughout her career at Arnold & Porter Grey has "been very fortunate to have interesting, cutting-edge work counseling and advocating for companies on energy transition issues, particularly related to decarbonizing the transportation sector, carbon capture, green hydrogen and other new technologies that we have to figure out to meet the Paris Agreement's goals," she told the Denver Business Journal. "I'm privileged to have such interesting and dynamic work"

When asked what advice she would give future 40 Under 40 winners, she said to "start small" by building good relationships with mentors. After that, "carve out an expertise in something you find interesting, nurture that; aAllow for twists and turns to productively shape your path instead of feeling derailed by them; keep checking in about whether you're enjoying the journey."

Grey counsels a wide array of clients on regulatory, policy, and compliance matters related to climate change, including the federal Renewable Fuel Standard, California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard, the Clean Air Act, and other state and international initiatives on transportation sector greenhouse gas emissions. She is a leading strategic advisor on carbon capture, storage, and utilization and other energy transition related opportunities, including mandatory and voluntary carbon credit markets and tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act. Grey also advises clients on climate risk analysis and disclosure and other environmental, social, and governance issues. She frequently represents clients in the fuels, energy, automobile, and manufacturing industries before the Environmental Protection Agency and California regulators.
