Proxy Caching – The New Fair Dealing?

A number of events have caused localised Internet traffic overload. These include the Heaven’s Gate suicides and Princess Diana’s death. The release of the Starr report also came close and the Congress servers were subject to more than a million hits in twenty-four hours. When the inevitable failures do occur, minimising downtime or masking the problem by proxy caching reduces the impact of the problems.
