A pro bono team of lawyers from Milbank LLP’s London Capital Markets and Leveraged Finance Groups advised Social and Sustainable Capital on a £2.5 million loan facility for Valley House, a Coventry-based charity. Valley House offers a range of accommodation and community-based services, including the provision of social housing for vulnerable people, victims of domestic abuse, and young parents.

The loan will enable Valley House to purchase a significant number of properties that provide the organization with the capacity and capability to increase the amount of good quality accommodation for vulnerable groups within Coventry.

Social and Sustainable Capital, the lender on this transaction, is a social finance organisation with a mission of supporting social sector organisations to deliver scalable and sustainable solutions to social issues across the UK. Their funds provide flexible capital to enable organisations to grow their social impact, improving the lives of disadvantaged people.

The Milbank team working on this transaction included partner Rebecca Marques, Special Counsel Ana Grbec and associates Ken Ryan, Francesca Mosely and Philipp Engel.

Rebecca Marques said: “We are proud of Milbank’s pro bono efforts. In particular, assisting SASC highlights our ability to leverage our team’s expertise and skill in financing transactions and apply them to sustainable investments that make a difference.”
