Oppenhoff has advised the shareholders of Smart Paws GmbH on its sale to Trupanion Inc.
Smart Paws is a rapidly growing provider of pet insurances, with branches in Germany and Switzerland. The company offers products developed by vets and tailored to the needs of animals and their owners.
Trupanion is a leading provider of pet insurances in the United States, Canada and Australia, insuring more than 700,000 pets. Trupanion is listed on the Nasdaq and is based in Seattle.
The Smart Paws team is remaining on board and will become a part of Trupanion's international organisation.
The Oppenhoff team, led by Christof Gaudig (Corporate/M&A), advised the shareholders of Smart Paws, represented by its majority shareholder Prof. Dr. Dick White. Further team members were Jan Nockemann (Corporate/M&A), Dr. Peter Etzbach (Corporate/M&A, Insurance) and Dr. Fee Mäder (IP).
