Mills & Reeve is expanding its corporate finance practice with the recruitment of highly rated Midlands lawyer, Tim Winn.

Tim was a partner with Garrett’s in Birmingham and previously spent 11 years at Edge & Ellison (now Hammonds). He has recently been rated as one of the Top 30 corporate stars outside London. Tim specializes in domestic and cross border M&A, strategic alliances, fundraisings and reconstructions and his experience spans the engineering, technology, leisure, retail and financial services sectors.

Guy Hinchley, Mills & Reeve’s Birmingham managing partner, commented:

"Tim’s recruitment is in response to our clients’ requirements for a broader range of services from our Birmingham office. Tim’s experience will ensure that we are able to meet the requirements of the dynamic Midlands market.

"We believe there is a significant opportunity in the Midlands to develop a corporate practice, particularly with the growth of technology businesses including University spin-offs and nanotechnology in Birmingham. Tim’s excellent reputation, experience and contacts will enable us to do this."

Tim Winn added:

"Mills & Reeve is a dynamic, high quality firm. The opportunity to extend the firm’s existing corporate, banking and finance expertise into the largest business community outside London is enormously attractive to me and is the right environment for my clients."

Mills & Reeve continues to expand its Birmingham office, which is growing at a rate of 50% a year. Last month the firm appointed leading property partner, Mike O’Sullivan, who joined from Eversheds and has recently gained a cluster of major new clients including the General Medical Council, Birmingham City Council, University of Nottingham and the National Blood Authority.
