International law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has today announced it has moved into 1454m2 (15,653 sq ft) offices on two floors in the prestigious Tower 42 building in the City of London's Old Broad Street to support recent growth.

The London office, which comprises 31 staff including 8 partners, has grown rapidly in the last 12 months fuelled by high quality work in structured and project finance, global energy and an increasing presence in cross border corporate and insolvency transactions. Orrick has been actively expanding its UK office as part of its strategy to build London and the recently acquired Paris office in tandem as part of its rapidly developing European business.

Recent high profile partner hires have included Adrian Harris, Carl Liederman, Jim Waddington and Bodo Schaar as well as two Of Counsel and three new associates joining in the last 12 months. A further three new associates have been recruited in London and were immediately seconded to the Paris office.

In the firm's core finance practice the London securitisation team was ranked 5th in the 2002 International Financial Law Review.

Orrick continues to aggressively recruit in the London market and expects to increase staff numbers significantly over the next year. Future hires will further expand the structured and project finance capability and provide high-level support to the corporate and insolvency teams.

Mike Bacon, Orrick's Partner in Charge of International Offices in London said "Our business in London is on an increasingly strong footing and expanding quickly with our new Paris office playing a key role in that growth. The move to new premises will support our domestic expansion and facilitate the planned growth of our business in continental Europe."

Ralph Baxter, Orrick's worldwide Chairman and CEO commented "We continue to look for innovative ways to enhance our service capabilities, while attracting seasoned, distinguished lawyers in high-value practice areas. The move to Tower 42 reflects our commitment to the London practice as a high-visibility hub from which we will continue to serve sophisticated international clients through a top-tier practice that is balanced, diversified and driven by the long-term view"
